50mm Lens Meetup
Saturday 26 April
Chinatown - 1pm - 2 Hours
Marilyn Smith
The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographers gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle or telephoto lens, but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, well review the basic camera settings. Well then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques to using the 50mm lens. As always, there will be ample opportunities for you to put your new knowledge into practice.
Industrial Landscape Photography
Saturday 03 May
Pacific Rd - 10am - 2 Hours
Marilyn Smith
We will be starting with an overview of landscape photography technique, how to decide what to take a picture of and how to compose shots, we will then move into settings and more technical challenges to get an idea of when the camera behaves best for landscapes.
You can use buildings and other man-made structures compositionally in the same way other landscape photographers use trees and rolling hills. Wind farms, harbours, cement works, power stations, quarries, pylons and building sites are just a few of the industrial landscapes you can photograph. The Liverpool docks are the perfect setting for this kind of photography meetup.
